Luhačovice is a town located in the picturesque valley of the river Šťávnice among the steep, forest-clad hills about 16 km south-east from Zlín. Although its elevation is only 250 m above sea level and the surrounding hilltops do not exceed 672 m above sea level (Komonec hill), the area has a distinct sub-mountainous character. Luhačovice boasts the fourth largest spa in the country, the largest in Moravia. It offers 6 naturally occurring springs of mineral water (the best known being Vincentka) and dozens of drilled sources; they are considered one of the most efficacious in Europe. The main conditions treated in the spa include respiratory, gastrointestinal, musculosceletal disorders and diabetes. The spa buildings designed by Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič, author of numerous buildings inspired by Wallachian and Kysuce folk architecture, have a special character. A large number of spa houses, the colonnade and an extensive park add to the genius loci.
Besides spa procedures, the town provides a large range of facilities for active vacation at any season of the year, such as swimming pools, tennis courts, mini golf course, sports halls, riding school. The town and its surroundings are an excellent place for hiking, sightseeing and enjoying lovely landscapes. Visitors can follow trails marked by the Czech Tourist Club or so-called Spa Trails divided into several walks (Walk Through the Spa Centre, Sightseeing Walk, Walk Through the Prague Quarter). The town surroundings offer excellent biking trails suitable for advanced bikers as well as for families with small children or elderly bikers. The tranquillity of the Luhačovice dam reservoir and its surroundings make it an ideal place for swimming, fishing and other activities. Winter sports lovers can enjoy three cross-country ski trails in the Luhačovice Zálesí Microregion and several ski slopes nearby the town.
A large number of cafés, wine bars, patisseries, restaurants help maintain social life in Luhačovice. Visitors can also enjoy concerts in the spa colonnade, theatre performances or balls. Further major events during the spa season include the annual Luhačovice Theatre Festival and the prestigious Janáček and Luhačovice Festival.
The accommodation facility Luhačovice is located in the post office building at the beginning of the spa colonnade. It can be used all around the year for weekend stays, family vacations, school and private group trips, language and other training events, business meetings, social events, short-term accommodation, etc.
Accommodation:
Available for accommodation are 11 rooms with two beds, 2 rooms with two beds and the possibility of an extra bed, and 4 rooms with two beds and the possibility of two extra beds. The total sleeping capacity incl. extra beds is 44 persons. All rooms have standard equipment with a TV set and en-suite shower and WC.
A kitchen with an oven, refrigerator, microwave oven and electric kettle is available on each floor. Each room has a separate cabinet with a set of dishes in the kitchen.
The accommodation price includes bed clothes. Towels, dish cloths and personal hygiene products are not provided.
Visitors must use indoor slippers.
The one-week stays begin and end on Saturday, with arrival between 12 noon and 3:30 p.m. and departure before 9:00 a.m. the next Saturday.
A conference room for 20 persons is available for meetings or education and social events, with the capability of preparing a small refreshment.
IMPORTANT:
The building does not provide wheelchair access. Due to technical and personnel reasons, persons who need individual care cannot be accommodated.
Animal pets are not allowed in the building.
Smoking is not allowed in any part of the building.
Meals:
Catering services are not provided in the building. Visitors can use a nearby restaurant open all day.
Transportation:
Train, bus, own transportation; visitors can arrange for using the post office parking area.
